At Sonata, check-in is from 2 pm and check-out by noon; one child under 5 usually stays free, ages 5–10 pay for breakfast, and from 11 children count as adults. Extra beds are limited to Deluxe rooms, cots are not offered and pets are not allowed. Over Tet and public holidays, expect possible gala dinners or minimum stays.

Children’s surcharges differ between sources and rise on holidays, so we do not print amounts. Bookings made on a booking platform follow that platform’s cancellation terms.

The rules that catch guests out

Twin room with two single beds made up with brown runners and a red flower decoration

Ages 0–4 · 5–10 · 11+

Children and extra beds

One child under 5 stays free in the parents’ bed; a second small child, or a child of 5–10, pays a breakfast surcharge; from 11 a child is charged as an extra adult with a bed. Extra beds go only into Deluxe rooms and may be a mattress.

What to do enter every child’s age on the booking page so the rate shows any surcharge. Watch for three children in one room, which usually means a family room or a villa.

Events for up to 300 guests

Weekends and company events

Sonata is a popular venue for team-building, gala dinners and weddings, with meeting rooms for up to 160 and banquets for up to 300. Events use the lawns, the poolside and the beach, mostly on Friday and Saturday nights.

What to do stay Sunday to Thursday, or ask for a room away from the main lawn. Watch for music and games running into the evening at weekends.

Tet · 30 April · 2 September

Holidays and villa stays

Over Tet and national holidays, agencies report compulsory gala dinners or minimum stays, and children’s surcharges go up. In the villas, one agency mentions a cleaning charge if kitchen items are left unwashed.

What to do read the rate conditions for holiday dates before paying, and ask what kitchenware the villa has. Watch for surcharges added at check-out that were mentioned in the small print.

Before you arrive at Sonata

01

Write requests in the booking

Twin beds, a quiet room, a late arrival or an extra bed: put them in the special-request box and keep the confirmation.

02

Bring passports for everyone

Reception registers every guest with the local police, so have passports or Vietnamese ID cards ready at check-in.

03

Carry some Vietnamese dong

Surcharges are settled at the front desk, and taxis and local eateries along the coast road rarely take cards.

Honest note

Several of these rules come from travel agencies rather than the resort itself, and their figures do not match. Treat the amounts as a guide and rely on the terms shown on your own booking.

More questions about Sonata’s house rules

Does Sonata hold a deposit at check-in?

Sonata does not publish a deposit policy for bookings made through booking platforms. Many Vietnamese resorts take a card pre-authorisation or a cash deposit for incidentals, so expect to be asked and have a card ready. Ask the hotel when you book if you need to know the amount.

Is smoking allowed at Sonata?

Listings for Sonata mention a designated smoking area, which usually means rooms are non-smoking. Ask reception where the smoking area is on arrival, and expect a cleaning charge if smoke is detected in a room.

Can I change or cancel a Sonata booking?

If you booked through a booking platform, its cancellation and change terms apply, and they are shown next to each rate before you pay. The resort’s own direct-booking terms are stricter, with date changes allowed only once and only for force majeure.

Can I check in late at night at Sonata?

Yes. The front desk is open 24 hours. Add your expected arrival time to the booking so the room is held, and arrange your transfer in advance, because finding a taxi on the coast road late at night is difficult.

Does Sonata require a minimum stay?

Not on ordinary dates. Over Tet, the 30 April and 2 September holidays and other peak periods, agencies report minimum stays and compulsory dinners. Any such condition appears in the rate details on the booking page.

What happens if I need an extra adult in my room at Sonata?

A third adult, or a child aged 11 or over, is charged as an extra person with an extra bed and breakfast, paid at the hotel. Extra beds are only offered in Deluxe rooms, so three adults travelling together may be better in a Family Garden View room.
